2021 winners of the calls for Innovative and Collaborative Research: ICR, ICR Plus, and Technical Boost
The Scientific Council of NeuroMarseille is pleased to announce the list of laureates of the 3 calls for tenders 2021. These projects all meet the required criteria of scientific excellence and all aim at promoting collaboration between researchers or engineers for the emergence of innovative projects. This year many platforms of the Institute are involved in the winning projects and NeuroMarseille is proud to support their development thanks to this funding.

NeuroSchool launches 3 calls for PhD projects

New deadline: NeuroMarseille Photo Contest: Science & Art
We cannot serenely predict that the photo exhibitions of the laureates will take place in May or June as planned: we are rather aiming for the second half of the year. The deadline for submitting photos has therefore been postponed!
Send your most beautiful pictures to reveal the beauty of life through images taken in AMU's neuroscience laboratories. The 20 winning photos will be exhibited in various galleries in the region. If you are a laureate, you will also receive a large format framed print of your photo(s). Other prizes are in preparation (Pass for the Rencontres Photographiques d'Arles, subscription to a photography magazine, photo books...)!

Discovering the institutes of establishment - Vectors of innovation on the territory
Eric Berton, President of Aix-Marseille University and Denis Bertin, Deputy Vice-President of the A*Midex University Foundation, invite you to get to know the institutes of establishment, new university objects creating bridges between teaching, research and the needs of economic and cultural players.

NeuroStories 2020: "At the source of our emotions" by Jean-Baptiste Pavani

ShapingLife 2
The second edition of ShapingLife, co-organised by the French Society of Developmental Biology (SFBD) and the Institute of Developmental Biology of Marseille (IBDM), will take place from 7 to 9 April 2021.

ENCODS 2021
The European Conference of Doctoral Students in Neuroscience (ENCODS) is an initiative to offer young neuroscientists a scientific exchange better suited to their needs than a large-scale event. ENCODS is now organised each year by a different group of international doctoral students and welcomes European doctoral students working in all fields of neuroscience.

LivinFrance: practical advice to prepare your arrival in France
Aix-Marseille University has set up a system to help you prepare for your departure via the deployment of LivinFrance, a digital platform on which you will find a set of useful and practical information on all the steps you need to take to settle in France. Above all, you will be able to benefit from individualised support and advice. You will be able to ask your questions by chat, WhatsApp or telephone.
This service is multilingual (French, English, Spanish...), so don't hesitate to use it, it's completely free!
PhD Program
Find all the news about our PhD program.

Course: Computational Neuroscience (in French)
The 30-hour course (10 sessions of 3 hours each) is based on three main themes:
1) Dynamics of networks and emerging properties
2) Coding, decoding, information theory
3) Cognitive architectures, symbolic approaches and AI.
Theoretical ideas and models specific to each level of approach to the brain will be presented, from the cellular level, through the properties of small networks, to large scale networks and up to emerging functions, artificial intelligence and human behaviour.
🗓 The courses take place over several weeks, between 25/02 and 02/04, with one or two sessions per week.

It aims to reward young researchers or PhD students with entrepreneurial projects using breakthrough technologies. MedIM 2020 : First inter-platform Interactome workshop
A workshop to train and discover the possibilities of 3 technological platforms in Marseille: this was the aim of this MedIm event, which took place from 7 to 11 December 2020. This event was organised by Pascale Barbier, Déborah Byrne, François Devred, Géraldine Ferracci, Maria Maté, Alain Roussel and Philipp Tsvetkov. NeuroSchool/NeuroMarseille financed part of this event to encourage interdisciplinary and cross-platform initiatives. Let’s look back at the first edition of this innovative workshop.

Negotiation of National, European (excluding Horizon Europe) and International R&D Contracts in AMU management
The contract negotiation procedure has just been modified: it sets out the various steps required for the negotiation and validation of National, European (outside Horizon Europe) and International contracts, as well as the role of each player involved in this procedure. This procedure is part of the mission to support the development of research entrusted to the DRV's Contractual and Industrial Activities Division and implemented by the DRV's Campus Project Managers.

3rd edition of the Grant for Scientific Culture Projects of Aix-Marseille University, open call!
The Aix-Marseille University Scientific Culture Project Grant is aimed at research structures with a project to disseminate research. In 2021, a budget of €10,000 is once again reserved for this support for the cultural initiatives of laboratories and will be distributed among the various winning projects.

The 3Brain - Massimo Grattarola Award 2021
3Brain is now offering a 10,000€ prize to support young neuroscientists at the beginning of their scientific journey.
Proposed a project to further our understanding of cellular network function in health and disease, which also includes high-density microelectrode array (HD-MEA) recordings from in-vitro or ex-vivo models such as brain slices, neuronal cultures (primary or stem cell-derived), retina, cardiomyocytes or organoids.
Please note, that it is the project idea that is awarded, therefore providing MEA data in the application is not required.

Short Scientific Question - Call for participation
Would you like to participate in an outreach project? AMU is relaunching the "Petite Question Scientifique" videos on its Youtube channel to shed light on everyday issues presented briefly and in a way that everyone can understand, by giving the floor to researchers, post-docs and doctoral students.
The format is simple: a short video (2 min 30-3 min) that shows the researcher/post-doc in his or her work environment while answering the question posed.
