NeuroSchool/LPC seminar
"Embodied simulation and experimental aesthetics" by Vittorio Gallese (University of Parma)
By exploiting the empirical approach of neuroscience and physiology, we can study the brain-body mechanisms that allow our interactions with artificial images, highlighting the functional mechanisms that allow their perceptual experience. Vittorio Gallese will present some results of his research showing that the creative expressive processes that characterize our species, despite their progressive abstraction and externalization from the body, keep their bodily links intact.

End-of-PhD funding
NeuroSchool and its PhD program are launching a call for applications for 6-month end-of-PhD funding. This call is open to students enrolled in their 3rd year during the 2020-2021 academic year. A total of 36 months of funding will be distributed among 6 laureates.
📅 Deadline: May 20 at midnight
Reminder: participation in the PhD program is taken into account in the evaluation.
Neuroscience & Philosophy Workshop: beyond materialism with Bergson
Join us to debate about whether the brain is "just" an information processing machine that stores memories and estimates time.
The goal of this workshop is to expose students to ideas that challenge the materialist and reductionist views pervasive in neuroscience.
📅 First session on 19 May
⌚️ 4 sessions for a total duration of 16 hours
Choose your PhD mentor!
NeuroSchool's PhD programme is launching a new initiative: all first-year students are warmly invited to choose a "thesis sponsor"!
🔎 The role of the thesis sponsor (a permanent member of the research or university staff, not belonging to the same team as the student) is to guide and advise the student on various topics not necessarily related to the scientific content of the PhD project.
DESU Scientific Communication: a few places available!
We are pleased to announce that 14 candidates have been selected to benefit from the Scientific Communication Technique training, given by EJCAM between June and September 2021. There are still a few places left for NeuroSchool students (master or PhD), please contact Isabelle Virard as soon as possible.
PhD thesis follow-up
🔔 Reminder: the PhD Program advises you to meet your monitoring committee twice, first at 6-12 months after the start of your PhD studies, and then at 18-24 months. Detailed recommendations are available on our website, on AMeTICE, and in this short video.
