Neuronautes: conference on « Artificial Intelligence & Epilepsy »
2 recognized specialists will give a conference organized on Thursday, September 22 at 6:00 pm in the Maurice-Togo amphitheater on the Timone campus. A « question and answer » session will follow, then a buffet in the Great Hall.

Opening of the Nikon Centre of Excellence for Neuro-NanoImaging - INP
The center will be inaugurated from 9:00 am on September 22, 2022! It is one of the twelve Nikon Centers of Excellence with European influence. Its creation results from the implementation by the INP of its cellular imaging platform (NCIS). The laboratory invites you to this major event: an international symposium will be followed by a ceremony with the president of AMU, E. Berton then a tour of the plaform and more!

INT's 10th anniversary conference
The Institut des Neurosciences de la Timone (INT) is now 10 years-old! Over this period of time, the INT has welcome many young researchers and built a rich and collaborative environment for its teams to thrive. To mark this moment, the laboratory is organizing its 5th edition of the INT international conference: "A decade's view on integrative neuroscience".

MRI Neuroimaging of brain disorders
On October 14, 2022, the INT and CERIMED are organizing a scientific day dedicated to language and sensory-motor disorders, with a presentation of the projects conducted at the center. You will have the opportunity to attend 6 talks, 2 keynote lectures (Prof. Kate Watkins - Oxford, UK, and Prof. Tamar Makin - UCL, UK), and a poster session. Lunch buffet and cocktail offered. Registration is free but mandatory.

Inauguration of an imaging platform at INMED
CIRCUITPHOTONICS is a new platform for imaging the dynamics of neural circuits, resulting from a partnership initiated in 2021 between the INT, INMED and other actors, including AMU of course. The inauguration is scheduled for October 14, 2022 at INMED in Luminy. Find more information about CIRCUITPHOTONICS on the dedicated AMU page.

Ciaran Butler-Hallissey, a PhD student at the INP, won the jury prize in the ELMI FocalPlane Image Contest last June. He took his impressive "Electric Love" photo, showing Cos-7 cells stained for actin (blue), microtubules (yellow) and DNA (red), with a Zeiss Apotome. Congratulations, Ciarán !

The M1 refresher week : a major initiative of the NeuroSchool team
NeuroMarseille*NeuroSchool would like to welcome all the new M1 students who are enrolling this year! To allow everyone to start the training with solid bases, 9 professors organized a week of courses to the 40 students who volunteered: Functional Neuro-anatomy, Methodology, Electrophysiology, Viral Tools in Neuroscience, Molecular and Cellular Biology. We sincerely thank Agnès Baude, Jean-Michel Brezun, Francis Castet, Nathalie Core-Polo, Christian Gestreau, Clément Menuet, Jean-Philippe Ranjeva, Riad Seddik and Nicolas Wanaverbecq. May all of you have a fruitfull school year!

Return on student’s experience
Each year, the NeuroSchool PhD program organizes the « Return on experience », where students and the committee discuss how to improve and adapt the program to the student's needs.This year, you are invited to join us (early October) in the NeuroSchool meeting room (Timone campus). Attending this event is MANDATORY for students funded by NeuroSchool (2nd-year and above), i.e. laureates of international PhD, cotutelle, PhD for MD or end-of-PhD contracts. Others, including 1st year, are more than welcome as well since the PhD program serves the interest of all

Good student/supervisor relationship
Relationships in the PhD project framework can sometimes be tense between PhD students and their tutors. To appease them, you can have a look and use this poster, that focuses on advice for both sides of the relationship. Remember: these tips are not strict rules and must be adapted to each context! You are under contract with AMU? Part of the NeuroMarseille*Neuroschool community ? To sign scientific publications, you can consult the university's chart and how to aknolegde beeing part of the community on our page "Research Kit". On this page, it won’t be the only information of interest for you. You will find documentation and advice on funding, recruiting and useful tools in neuroscience. Something to get you up to speed for the new school year!

Results of our calls
Between April and June 2022, NeuroSchool auditioned applicants for several calls for PhD contracts : international PhDs, co-supervised PhDs, End-of-PhDs, PhD for MD. Sincere thanks to our amny collegues from all laboratories who gave their time as jurors ! NeuroSchool and its PhD Program are now pleased to announce the results of these calls, and welcome its new PhD students (or extend some of them) for the coming year!

Monthly Neuroimaging Meetings (NMR) resume
As every year, the INT's NMR will take place live from CERIMED and in videoconference, to present and discuss research projects in Neuroimaging, results, articles and methodology. All interested researchers, clinicians, technicians, and students are welcome: meeting one Thursday morning per month, from 10am to 12pm.

NeuroSchool incoming mobility fellowship
We are pleased to announce that the following students from partner universities have been selected to come to Marseille in 2022-23, thanks to NeuroSchool incoming mobility fellowships :
- Anushka Wakade, from the University of Helsinki, will be training at UNIS with Dominique Debanne,
- Maria Evangelia Vlachou, from Athens University, will be training at the LNC with Jean Blouin,
- Rabia Evgin, from the University of Tübingen, will be training at the LNC as well, with Boris Burle.

Opening of the Nikon Centre of Excellence for Neuro-NanoImaging - INP
The center will be inaugurated from 9:00 am on September 22, 2022! It is one of the twelve Nikon Centers of Excellence with European influence. Its creation results from the implementation by the INP of its cellular imaging platform (NCIS). The laboratory invites you to this major event: an international symposium will be followed by a ceremony with the president of AMU, E. Berton then a tour of the plaform and more!

INT's 10th anniversary conference
The Institut des Neurosciences de la Timone (INT) is now 10 years-old! Over this period of time, the INT has welcome many young researchers and built a rich and collaborative environment for its teams to thrive. To mark this moment, the laboratory is organizing its 5th edition of the INT international conference: "A decade's view on integrative neuroscience".

Good student/supervisor relationship
Relationships in the PhD project framework can sometimes be tense between PhD students and their tutors. To appease them, you can have a look and use this poster, that focuses on advice for both sides of the relationship. Remember: these tips are not strict rules and must be adapted to each context! Also you can contact PhD project mentors and the wellness referent if you encounter issues.

MRI Neuroimaging of brain disorders
On October 14, 2022, the INT and CERIMED are organizing a scientific day dedicated to language and sensory-motor disorders, with a presentation of the projects conducted at the center. You will have the opportunity to attend 6 talks, 2 keynote lectures (Prof. Kate Watkins - Oxford, UK, and Prof. Tamar Makin - UCL, UK), and a poster session. Lunch buffet and cocktail offered. Registration is free but mandatory.

Inauguration of an imaging platform at INMED
CIRCUITPHOTONICS is a new platform for imaging the dynamics of neural circuits, resulting from a partnership initiated in 2021 between the INT, INMED and other actors, including AMU of course. The inauguration is scheduled for October 14, 2022 at INMED in Luminy. Find more information about CIRCUITPHOTONICS on the dedicated AMU page.

We are proud to have won several A*Midex calls recently:
- ELNEA: Teaching Neuroscience in English. Our master’s program has received 84 k€ to switch to English in the upcoming years !
- Renewed funding from TIGER (Transformation of Training through Research) for our master’s program.
- 4 interdisciplinary projects (POLYCHRONIES, UNITAE, TAAMOD, REPORTS) : collaborations between NeuroMarseille’s laboratories.

Monthly Neuroimaging Meetings (NMR) resume
As every year, the INT's NMR will take place live from CERIMED and in videoconference, to present and discuss research projects in Neuroimaging, results, articles and methodology. All interested researchers, clinicians, technicians, and students are welcome: meeting one Thursday morning per month, from 10am to 12pm.

Call for applications : IMéRA
For the year 2023-24, IMéRA is offering residency positions for a duration of 5 or 10 months, dedicated to scientists and/or artists. In particular, the "Interdisciplinary Explorations" program opens a place for the ILCB (Institute of Langage, Communication and the Brain), a residency to study the cerebral and cognitive bases of language or communication. Notice to all interested!

R&D Seminar "IMAGING 2022
In partnership with the CERIMED, the Marseille Imaging Institute, one of the 18 institutes created by Aix-Marseille University, is organizing a meeting from September 26 to 30, 2022 to bring together the community of researchers, teachers, and students with actors from the socio-economic world. ICR call
As always, the NeuroMarseille Institute wishes to support scientific exchanges and encourage the emergence of new collaborations within the Marseilles neuroscience community. The aim, of course, is to promote the emergence of new innovative, highly qualitative projects. In this context, the Institute opens the 4th call entitled "Grants for innovative and collaborative research in neurosciences". Watch your mailbox, we will shortly inform you of the call opening!

Call for projects: "Improving patient care and quality of life (FFRE)
The FFRE will finance at the end of 2022, with the support of the Vera Nijs & Jens Erik Rosborg Foundation, under the aegis of the Fondation de Luxembourg, a clinical research project over 3 years (2023-2025) aiming to improve the care and quality of life of patients suffering from epilepsy. This funding will be of 160 000 € over 3 years.

Deadline for the MSCA Post-doctoral Fellowship call
This call of the Horizon Europe Program allows PhD holders to carry out a post-doctoral fellowship in a European or extra-European country.
