NeuroDays 2019: The neuroscience of music

A conference, open to the general public, on the theme of the perception of music.

As every year, the PhD Program organizes a conference for the general public to promote neuroscience. This year, Prof. Robert Zatorre will introduce you to the neuroscience of music! This conference, open to all, will take place on Wednesday November 27, 2019 at 6pm in the Natural Sciences Theatre on St Charles campus.

From perception to pleasure: the neuroscience of music

In this lecture, Robert Zatorre will present research from his laboratory on the treatment of music in the brain. His lab uses brain imaging methods to better understand the neural circuits involved in the perception of sound in general and music in particular. Reward networks are also involved when you feel pleasure while listening to the music. This phenomenon is related to the release of the neurotransmitter dopamine, a hypothesis supported by experiments with brain stimulation and pharmacological manipulation.

Registration is free but places are limited.
