Peter Bede

Associate Professor and Consultant Neurologist
Trinity College Dublin
Dublin, Ireland

Peter Bede is a consultant neurologist specialised in neuromuscular disorders and neurodegenerative conditions. He is the head of the Computational Neuroimaging Group in Trinity College Dublin. His research work focuses on the characterisation of phenotype-specific imaging signatures, genotype-associated brain changes and propagation patterns in vivo, using advanced computational neuroimaging techniques. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed research papers and book chapters on ALS, Primary Lateral Sclerosis, Neuroimaging Methods, MRI Physics, Biostatistics and Frontotemporal Degeneration. He is the associate editor of the ‘Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and Frontotemporal Dementia’ journal and the patron of the Irish Motor Neuron Disease Association (IMNDA). He is a member of the steering committee of the Neuroimaging Society in ALS (NiSALS), the American Academy of Neurology, and the UK MND Association (MNDA) Research Advisory Panel.

    Séverine Boillée

    Director of Research at Inserm
Head of the “Causes of ALS and mechanisms of motor neuron degeneration” team, Brain Institute (ICM, U1127 Inserm/UMR7225 CNRS/ Sorbonne University)
    Paris, France

Séverine Boillée began her research into motor neuron degeneration as a master's student in Marc Peschanski's laboratory at the Créteil Faculty of Medicine. She obtained her PhD in neuroscience from the University of Paris XII in 2001, before moving on to a post-doctorate in the laboratory of Prof. Don W. Cleveland, a world specialist in motor neuron disease, at the University of California, San Diego. She continued her research there for 6 years, then returned to France in 2008, where she was recruited by Inserm and joined the team of Dr Michel Mallat, a specialist in microglial cells. In 2014, she set up her “Causes of ALS and mechanisms of motor neuron degeneration” team at the Brain Institute (ICM) and was promoted to research director in 2021.
