Clinical session #2: retrospective
The clinical session on the theme "Parkinson's disease, between fundamental and clinical research", allowed our two guests Stephan GRIMALDI and Sonia DI BISCEGLIE CABALLERO to propose two very enriching presentations, which did not fail to arouse the interest of the public.
A successful meeting
On February 10, 2022, online on zoom, about fifty researchers and clinicians came to listen to Stephan and Sonia during the session. Stephan presented the results of his studies on the “Diagnosis and treatment of Parkinson’s disease” and Sonia presented his work within the framework of his doctoral project: “Contribution of external neurons of the globus pallidus (GPe) in Parkinson’s disease”.
The event was a success for this one and a half hour session, and the participants did not hesitate to question our speakers. The objective of bringing together practitioners and researchers has been achieved for NeuroMarseille, and the next clinical session is now awaited with great enthusiasm.

Speakers of the clinical session
I have obtained my bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and a master’s degree in neurosciences at the Université Grenoble Alpes. Currently I am in my 3rd year of doctoral studies and I am working on the effects of optogenetic manipulations of the external globus pallidus (GPe) neurons on the motor deficits in a mouse model of Parkinson’s disease in the Laboratoire de Neurosciences Cognitives (LNC) in Marseille, under the supervision of Abdel-Mouttalib Ougazzal.
