How does the brain generate mental activities? How, for example, does it allow self-awareness, language and other higher cognitive functions to emerge?

By combining detailed behavioural analyses, modelling and neurophysiological approaches, from both ontogenetic (from birth to senescence) and phylogenetic (inter-species comparison) perspectives, and in both normal and pathological contexts, the CRPN brings together in a single place all the tools needed (from the molecular level to social interactions) to understand the complexity of mental functions, their behavioural expressions and their biological embodiment.
