Engineer in systems neuroscience

The post offers an exciting opportunity to participate in the early stages of a research project that seeks to understand the neuronal mechanisms underlying changes in behavioral states during a decision-making task in mice.

Description

The successful applicant will be exposed to a highly multidisciplinary research combining aspects of experimental and computational neuroscience.

The successful applicant is expected to:
– participate in the development of a foraging task for mice in virtual reality
– perform data preprocessing and data analysis
– perform mouse surgeries and daily behavioral training
– perform large-scale electrophysiology in behaving mice

The successful candidate will receive a fixed-term contract of 6 months, possibly renewable. The position may attract applicants who wish to gain a strong research experience before pursuing with PhD studies.

Desired profile

Minimum qualification:
- a master degree (or equivalent) in a scientific discipline such as neuroscience, engineering, applied mathematics, or related areas

Desirable qualification:
- regulatory training for the use of animals for scientific purposes (level “concepteur” or “applicateur”)

Necessary skills:
- programming skills (especially Python and/or Matlab)
- fluency in English

Desirable skills:
- prior experience in neuroscience
- experience with animal experimentation
