Seminar NeuroSchool/INMED - OPEN TO ALL
When the locus coeruleus speaks up during sleep: advancing the neurobiology of sensory vigilance par Anita Lüthi
My talk will show that sleep-related activity in the locus coeruleus, the major noradrenergic area of the brain known for its powerful wake-promoting actions, has so far been underestimated for sleep’s behavioral, architectural, and neurobiological assets. My talk will make the case for a renewal of the dichotomous view on sleep and wakefulness, emphasizing that wake-related activity intruding into sleep is inextricably linked to the physiology of mammalian sleep and will, most likely, turn out to be a culprit in its manifold disruptions in pathophysiological conditions.

Discovering the origins of language with Adrien Meguerditchian
Is there any common ground between the evolutionary history of apes and humans? It seems logical to answer yes because we both belong to the great family of primates. But to what extent are we connected through evolution?
Adrien Meguerditchian, a researcher at the Cognitive Psychology Laboratory, is interested in the properties of our primate cousins' modes of communication and their links with certain properties of human language. In this article, made in NeuroMarseille, discover the concepts of lateralization, manual asymmetry, and gestural communication!
