Call description
NeuroSchool, the Graduate School in Neuroscience (EUR) of Aix-Marseille University (AMU) is offering to fully fund a one-year post-doctoral fellowship.
This one-year salary is intended for young neuroscience graduates who have completed their PhD at AMU (less than 3 years of experience after the thesis at the time of hiring) and who wish to work in a biotechnology company in the South region. Its main objective is to promote the professional integration of young doctors.
As a biotechnology company, if you are interested in this program, we invite you to submit a research project that we will propose to the candidates for this postdoctoral fellowship.
Traditionally, this call for tenders takes place in 3 stages.
Call for projects
Biotechnology companies are invited to propose a one-year neuroscience project for a post-doctoral fellow. The files are to be retrieved below and sent to the following address: neuroschool-candidature@univ-amu.fr
The deadline for applications is midnight on November 14, 2019.
Excellence projects will be selected by the committee according to the following criteria:
- quality and feasibility of the project
- employment opportunities at the end of the contract
- supervisors’ skills
- added value of in-company training.
The selected projects will be posted on our website on November 19, 2019.
Call for applications
Candidates will be able to download the application form, and the (maximum) 2 projects they have selected from all those proposed by the companies, from November 19, 2019 on the website: https://neuro-marseille.org/fr/phd-program/appel-a-projets-bourse-post-doctorale-entreprise/
They will have to justify their choice(s) in an application file. This will include:
- a resume;
- a cover letter explaining their choice(s) and the complementarity between their academic background and the selected company;
- two letters of recommendation.
The deadline for the submission of applications is January 5, 2020, at midnight, to be sent by email to neuroschool-candidature@univ-amu.fr
Warning: This year, an applicant who wishes to apply with a project other than those submitted in Stage 1 by companies is free to do so. He must then submit his application with this new project, in coordination with a company of his choice. The project and the application will then be examined jointly.
Interview
The selection committee will select a maximum of ten applications, in agreement with the project leaders. The opinion of the project leader on the candidates will be taken into account for their retention in the selection procedure.
Each candidate will be interviewed individually during March 2020.
The final decision will be taken following the hearing and the successful candidate will be able to start as soon as the administrative formalities have been completed.
An administrative delay being necessary, hiring will probably not start until June 2020.
Results
Two post-doctoral fellowships in biotech companies have been awarded:
- Estelle NAKUL (LNSC) – 1 year from 01/09/20 to 31/08/21 at Boarding Ring (Ollioules), under the supervision of Renaud JEANNIN.
Project title: Optimization of the Seenetic VR anti-cyberkinetosis device - Béatrice BROUSSE (INP) – 1 year from 08/06/20 to 07/06/21 at Vect-Horus (Timone), under the supervision of Alexandre TOKAY.
Project title: Spontaneous myelin regeneration in adult mouse brains: interactions between stem cells, progenitor cells and microglia.
