Funding for Ph.D. studies

Doctoral contracts

At the end of M2, a student wishing to do a Ph.D. can apply for a doctoral contract (i.e. a governmental salary for 3 years).

Each year, the neurosciences master’s program awards a number of doctoral contracts (usually around 7-8) to the top students, based on their exam results from semester 3 and their internship (report and oral presentation) during semester 4. You will find more information about this competition on the Graduate School of Life and Health Science website.

Other master’s programs also allow external candidates to apply for such doctoral contracts.

Other funding sources

There also are industrial agreements for research training in private companies (CIFRE scholarships).

Furthermore, other types of funding may be obtained directly by research laboratories : if a laboratory research captivates you, contact it as soon as possible to jointly seek funding.

Sometimes you can sign up to receive e-mail alerts. For instance, the ITMO Neurosciences weekly newsletter lists  job offers or calls to apply for funding.

The ICN doctoral program and the DOC2AMU program also offer several scholarships to foreign students who wish to do their Ph.D. in Marseille.
