“Where am and what have I done?” : investigation of the neuronal coding of spatial memory in virtual environments.

The aim of our research is to understand the neuronal mechanisms that enable animals to locate themselves in their environment and to learn where interesting things happen. To fulfill this purpose we use electrophysiological recordings of neuronal populations in the hippocampal formation in mice and rats navigating in virtual environments. The project of the student will focus on the CA3 region of the hippocampus and will aimed at studying how spatial representations are updated in response to changes in a familiar environment.
