Modeling the interactions between place cells and grid cells

Place cells and grid cells are two space-coding cell populations that are located in the hippocampus and the entorhinal cortex, respectively. They both code for the position of a subject in space and for the spatial characteristics of the environment. The two cell types are anatomically connected, but it is still unclear how their activities may influence each other. Using a modeling approach, this project aims at investigating how place cells and grid cells interact, and how changes in the external space may influence these interactions.
Programming skills in Python will be appreciated.
